The Acrobat

I was inspired by one of Picasso’s paiting known as The Acrobat. This painting is a good proof of the paradox of movement and rigidity. One interesting aspect of this painting is the way in which the Acrobat is free to contort into whichever shape he wishes, though at the same time is perfectly restrained into the overall boundaries of the art work itself. By designing a pleated skirt and applying the print on the regular pleats, I gave the figure the concept of an animation by repeating multiple images. For the blouse, I used the other principle of making an animatuion which is called “Anticipation”. That means; preparing the audience for a major action such as, a sudden movement.
